Complete step by step instructions at Fried Turkey 101

What type of oil should I use?

The best choice of oil for frying is peanut oil. Although you can use any type of oil you like. If you cannot find peanut oil you can use corn oil or vegetable oil. Preferably, in that order.

Why peanut oil?

Peanut oil is more durable than most other oils. This allows you to reuse your oil and save money. It has a higher flash point than most oils. This makes it safer for frying at high temperatures. It also does not transfer food flavor. This allows you to reuse your oil with different food types. These are just a few examples of why choose peanut oil.

Is fried turkey healthy?

Actually, fried turkey isn't much different than baked turkey, at least in regard to health. When you lower a turkey in hot oil it sears the skin, and this blocks any oil from getting to the meat. This is why fried doesn't taste greasy.

Can I fry a stuffed bird?

I wouldn't recommend it.

Can I fry any size turkey?

We recommend keeping them around 12-15 lbs, although you can fry any size you would like.
